A truly great Witton player and later servant departs this world.
Very sad news as we learnt on February 15th of the passing of Keith and all our condolences go to Cath and her family.
A regular player from 1956 to 1966 Keith sits 5th in the list of Albion's post-war appearances making 429 in total.
I’ve come across a quote from a Witton programme from 1965 and it states “They say that for a local player to be popular with the fans, he must be a good ‘un and in this respect Keith Higgins certainly “fills the bill.”
When he eventually hung up his boots he took on the role of trainer/physio and performed this role for many, many years that included on the old Wembley stadium's hallowed turf in our 1992 FA Trophy Final.
There will be a fitting tribute in the Prescot Cables' matchday programme.
The funeral of Witton Albion FC legend Keith will take place on Thursday 7th March at 11.30 am at Birches Crematorium, Lostock Green CW9 7SU
Attendees can wear Witton shirts, colours etc and afterwards all invited back to Witton's Social Club to help celebrate his life.
