Unbeaten Witton Albion Women look to extend their winning run on Sunday afternoon, when they welcome league leaders Winsford Town Ladies in a Cheshire Women’s Youth League Championship West fixture.
They face their biggest test so far against a team that had an unblemished record up until last weekend, winning their first seven games before the surprising 3-2 defeat to Vauxhall Motors Women.
Witton have really found their shooting boots in recent weeks and put basement club Sutton Rangers Women to the sword over back to back games.
The Ellesmere Port club must have wondered what had hit them as Witton amassed 33 goals over the two games but had the consolation of scoring their first goal of the season.
Despite their start to the season Sutton Rangers have never given up and have always tried to play their football.
It really has been an excellent team performance which has got Witton to where they are but the form of players like Cara Batty and striker Aimee Gibson has been pivotal to that success.
There is still a long way to go in the season but already Winsford Town Ladies and Witton Albion Women are proving to be the two strongest teams in the league and today’s game should be an excellent advert for the league.
