Witton kick off their league campaign on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Chasetown to the U Lock It Stadium in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.
The Scholars had an excellent season last time finishing fourth and making the play offs and are expected to do well again this time around.
They have made some decent signings but have also kept the majority of last season’s squad together.
Pre season has been good for the the Scholars, losing only one of their friendlies a 3-0 defeat to Rushall Olympic, so they go into the opening game in excellent form.
Witton have had a mixed pre season with some good individual performances but results not being as they had hoped.
New signings Tom Hoyle and Freddy Garbutt have already found the target in last week’s comfortable FA Cup success against Cheadle Town.
Joe Duckworth’s return from Stalybridge Celtic was a surprise for many but we know what he’s capable of and he’ll be looking to hit the ground running.
Defensive additions and the return of goalkeeper Cameron Terry will hopefully give Albion a platform to build from although the loss of Mike Koral was a big disappointment.
The two meetings last season saw the respective home team win by the odd goal in three with Damola Sotona and Mike Koral securing the points at the U Lock It Stadium in April.
Witton will look to make a good start to the campaign but Chasetown are tough opponents and this game will be no different.
Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.
